HK Trip November 2010 - Day 5 to 8

Day 5 - Ocean Park (HK Island)

My impression of Ocean Park before we went was not very good - old, nothing much to see etc. But how wrong I was. In fact I think it can be even more enjoyable than Disneyland (for me at least). There are animals to see (the best thing for us is being able to catch the Pandas), children's amusment park, and thrill rides for older kids and adults. The park is so big we were unable to cover the whole place.

This ride goes vertically up, with sudden drops. It was even scary for me initially, but Kaelyn enjoyed it so much she went on it 3 times.

On the ferris wheel

While Kaelyn was taking her nap in the stroller, David and I took turns to go on the minetrain roller coaster. Thrilling! Fun! Havent been on a roller coaster for ages that I went on it 3 times!

Day 6 - Avenue of the Stars / Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade / Meet up with colleagues (Kowloon), Victoria Peak (HK Island)

We stayed at the YMCA Hotel in Kowloon. This hotel is in a very good location but yet the prices are very reasonable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to HK.

In the morning, we went to the Avenue of the stars at the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, which is 15 mins walk from our hotel. Then we went for lunch with my HK colleagues.

In the later afternoon, we took an open top bus to the base of Victoria Peak. We wanted to take the tram up the Peak, but it was extremely crowded we decided to take a taxi up the mountain. It was freezing cold up there, with very strong winds.

On our way down, we took a mini bus. The driver drove so fast down the hill that Kaelyn threw up all her dinner!

Day 7 - Macau

We didnt have much time for Macau, just a day trip. So our initial target was to visit the St Paul's ruins, the Portuguese style town and Macau tower. We managed to do the first 2, as we spent some time on shopping for almond biscuits and egg tarts. Yum...
